Daily Prayer - Saturday 09 June 2012
The UK government intends to oppose a case brought by two Christian women at the European Court of Human Rights to establish their right to wear a cross openly in the workplace. The women were barred from wearing a cross and claim that this breached their human rights. Ministers argue that because wearing a cross is not a “requirement” of the Christian faith, employers can ban employees from doing so and dismiss them if they insist. Pray that Christian symbols will not be banished from public life and that the freedom of Christians to express their faith openly will be upheld.
