Egypt - Christian Children's Clubs in Egypt 11-1080
Country/Region: Africa, Egypt, Middle East and North Africa
Egyptian Christian children come under great pressure from the majority population especially at school. Both teachers and pupils are very hostile to them and discriminate against them and severely mock and distort the Christian faith. Sometimes they are failed in their exams just because they are Christians. It is therefore vital that Christian children should be strong in their faith. A new programme based in Central Egypt aims to awaken and strengthen the faith of children from Christian families. The programme covers ages 2-18 and hopes to reach about 10,000 children in 80 villages. It includes training for staff and volunteers, the provision of children’s resources and scriptures and a festival for 5,000 children, as well as weekly Christian clubs for the children.
