Nepal - Christian Student Fellowships 89-1089
Country/Region: Nepal, South and East Asia
Nepal is taking its first steps in changing from an oppressive Hindu monarchy to a secular and democratic republic, a fragile process that is being resisted by dominant Hindu caste groups. The draft constitution proposes many progressive changes but few in the area of religious freedom; it would retain the ban on activities aimed at religious conversion. Despite the restrictions to which Christians were subjected, the Church is growing. In this context it is important to help train and equip the Nepali Church leaders of the future. This project seeks to provide six-day residential missionary training conferences for Christian students and youth in ten locations to empower Nepali Christian students to evangelise their fellow students. Each six-day conference costs approximately £142.
