Barnabas Aid is supplying about 6,000 food parcels every month, through local churches, to displaced and impoverished Syrian Christian families, feeding about 30,000 people.
Praise God for a measure of peace and stability in parts of Syria, after six long years of terrible conflict. But life is very, very far from normal. Many Christians – who faced anti-Christian persecution from some rebel groups on top of all the other perils of war – fled their homes, losing jobs and therefore income. The elderly, sick, vulnerable and very poor remained. They are still in need and Barnabas Aid is still helping. But we need your help to keep this up.
Typical food parcels contain rice, pasta, eggs, tinned meat, tinned fish, lentils, olive oil, tomato paste, tea, sugar and favorite local food items like the herb mix zaatar. We also assist Syrian Christians who have fled to nearby countries.
“Continue to remember the poor” (Galatians 2:10)
The media may shift their attention to other parts of the world, but the suffering in Syria continues.
As in every war, inflation has spiraled, so food prices in Syria are higher than they were just a few years ago. The cost of a monthly food parcel now can be anything from $28 to $44 depending on exchange rates and the size of the family.
Thank you to all our supporters who have given over the last six years to help our Syrian brothers and sisters.
But please do not forget them now.
