Operation Christmas Joy: Will you give a gift to a Christian refugee child in Turkey?

22 December 2017

The Christmas story tells us of wise men from the East who brought gifts to the infant Jesus (Matthew 2:1-11). The giving of gifts at Christmas has developed into an important tradition. In the Western world, many of these gifts are unwanted or unnecessary, but how welcome and precious they are for those living in poverty or destitution.

Today in Turkey many tens of thousands of Christian refugees from Syria, Iraq, Iran and other countries – even Afghanistan – face a cold winter and an uncertain future.  Amongst them are children, the most vulnerable of all.

Bringing Christmas Joy

“Operation Christmas Joy” is providing Christmas presents for 1500 refugee children, aged 2 to 14,  from Christian families living in 16 cities of Turkey. Each child will get a backpack filled with warm clothes such as hats, gloves, scarves and socks, a few toys and sweets, and a Christian book in Arabic or Farsi. One backpack and its contents cost $43 and transport to the various destinations is an extra $9.
