Christians who have suffered in Ukraine's conflict now suffer in the bitter winter - will you help them survive?

“Dear brothers and sisters in the Lord, I thank God very much and you for this help in the most difficult moment of my life,” wrote Natalia to Barnabas Fund. She had got help from Barnabas last winter.

Natalia from Ukraine wrote to Barnabas Fund: “Dear brothers and sisters in the Lord. I thank God very much and you for this help in the most difficult moment of my life.”

Ukraine has been wracked by war and conflict since 2014. Homes, churches and businesses are in ruins and an estimated 1.5 million people are displaced. Those who remain include many elderly, sick and disabled.

From November to February, the region endures a harsh winter, with average temperatures of -8⁰C to -12⁰C and sometimes dropping to -20⁰C (-4⁰F). Pastors are concerned as to how the vulnerable in their congregations will survive, including widows, children and homeless.  The state pension is meagre – enough for either bread and water or fuel for heating, but not both. As in any war situation, prices have spiralled. Factories and mines have closed, leaving huge numbers jobless. Shelling, shooting and general lawlessness continue.

Our brothers and sisters need urgent help. Ukrainian Churches have helped the neediest with basic crops in season such as potatoes, tomatoes, cabbages and carrots. But it is not enough.

Working through local Baptist churches, Barnabas is providing funds for food, fuel, rent and medical needs.

“I want to praise my Lord for His mercy sent through you and for your sacrificial hearts,” said Victoria, after Barnabas Fund helped her family with warm clothes and medicines last winter.

Can you help Barnabas Fund to provide extra life-saving aid in Ukraine?
