Pastor Ernesto Estrella (51) was shot dead by motorcyclists in Cotabato, Philippines on 2 August. Cotabato, in the south of the country, is partly under the jurisdiction of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region, which is the Muslim-majority region of the Philippines. Church leaders cried out for justice after the death of Pastor Ernesto, condemning the “ideology of death” and “culture of impunity” in the Philippines. They called on all Christians to “stand together in the name of Christ in upholding the God-given value of human life, dignity and rights”. Pray that Filipino Christians will be able to bring godly government and justice to their country.
