Projects > Bibles for Eritrean Christians in Israel

13 December 2017

There are around 30,000 Christian Eritrean refugees in Israel. They face discrimination because of the government’s systemic hostility, including enforced poverty, blocked access to health and trauma services, and forcible detention as a way to coerce asylum seekers into self-deporting Many Eritrean men who have sought asylum in Israel are held in the fearsome Holot Detention Centre, where air conditioning and heat rarely work and food is severely limited. Barnabas Fund is assisting the provision of 5,000 Bibles in Tigrinya, the language of Eritrea.
