Barnabas USA has been named winner of the 2019 Best of McLean Award in the Religious Organisation category for our work helping Christians persecuted for their faith around the world.

Jeremy Frith, CEO of Barnabas Aid USA, said he was delighted and encouraged to receive the accolade. He said, “We have worked hard to highlight the plight of our persecuted brothers and sisters, and to raise awareness across the US of the many needs and threats faced by Christians globally. To have these efforts formally recognised by the McLean Award program gives us a significant boost as we enter a new era for Barnabas Aid.

“We can never stop striving for excellence in all that we do and our goal of making Barnabas Aid the best it can be and recognised as an aid agency that can be trusted here, and around the world, is a challenge that motivates us every day.”

Barnabas Aid maintains very low overheads of just 12% globally, which covers the cost of education, raising awareness, prayer materials and advocacy, as well as general administrative and running costs. It means that 88p in every £1 that supporters donate goes directly to help persecuted Christians. “We feel that this is one of the reasons why we have been recognised as the best,” said Jeremy.

The McLean Award winners were announced on 28 August, just months after Jeremy took up his post as CEO of Barnabas Aid USA.

The McLean Award program recognises exceptional organisations or businesses that help make the McLean area of Virginia a great place to live, work and play.
